O wner of Swiss Timepieces, Mr. Urs Ryser has been surrounded by watches and clocks his whole life. Growing up in Biel, home to such illustrious Swiss watchmakers as Rolex, Longine, Omega and Bulova, at the age of sixteen, he entered the Cantonales Technikum, a technical institute specializing in training watchmakers since its founding in the 1880s. Upon completing a four-year course of study that included the mathematics and physics of timekeeping as well as the fabrication and decoration of timepieces. he joined the Rado Watch Company. After working there two years, Mr. Ryser decided to emigrate to the United States. After working as a watchmaker in several San Francisco Bay Area stores, Mr. Ryser opened his own store in Kentfield, California.
Swiss Timepieces also features their own watch line, Neo-Art-Deco design handcrafted by Mr. Ryser. In addition to selling Eluxa clocks, Mr. Ryser repairs and restores watches and clocks. To replace watch parts, he communicates with supply houses throughout the world. To restore antique clocks, he may use lathes and drilling and filing tools to recreate original parts from brass and wood.
